June 15, 2007 - A reminder that every federally-inspected establishment must reassess the adequacy of its Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Point (HACCP) plan at least annually was issued by the Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).
According to FSIS Notice 35-07, "Verification of the Annual HACCP Plan Reassessment Requirement," establishments may reassess HACCP plans any time during the calendar year to meet the annual reassessment requirement. In addition, at least once a year, as close as possible to the date the HACCP was implemented, inspection program personnel are to verify that each establishment has performed its annual reassessment by reviewing the HACCP plans to verify that they have at least been re-signed.
Additional clarification on verification requirements can be found in Notice 35-07, available online at www.fsis.usda.gov/OPPDE/rdad/FSISNotices/35-07.pdf
