December 22, 2006 - AMI, along with eight other trade associations, requested a 60-day extension to the comment period associated with the Food Safety and Inspection Service's (FSIS) notice, "Product Labeling: Definition of the Term 'Natural'."
The extension was requested to allow time to collect meaningful input from member companies who have an important stake in the definition of 'natural' and provide answers to several complex questions posed in the agency's notice of Dec. 5, 2006.
The American Association of Meat Processors, Food Products Association, Natural Chicken Council, National Meat Association, National Meat Canners Association, National Turkey Federation, North American Meat Processors Association and Southwest Meat Association were among those organizations requesting the extension.
