Carpenter Retiring from USDA

December 1, 2006 - After 37 years of federal service including 17 years with the Livestock and Seed Division of the U.S. Department of Agriculture, Barry Carpenter is retiring from his position as deputy administrator of the Agricultural Marketing Service in early January.
Carpenter has accepted a position of chief executive officer and executive director of the National Meat Association. Both appointments are effective Feb. 1, 2007.
