November 3, 2006 - The executive board of the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) held its fall meeting in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 27-28, 2006, following the completion of the Tri-Lamb Group meeting.
The following actions passed:
- At the conclusion of a presentation on workers' compensation for the sheep industry, the board approved the distribution of a survey to be sent out to members seeking geographical and policy holder interest;
- A Memorandum of Understanding was entered into between ASI and the American Sheep and Goat Center outlining the intentions of these entities to work together to achieve the mutual goal of providing insurance needs to the sheep and lamb industries;
- A special task force, to include the ASI officer team plus Margaret Soulen Hinson (Idaho producer), was appointed to advise, guide and oversee the process of providing risk-management products to the sheep industry in an expeditious and appropriate manner. Budget expenditure from ASI Fund II reserves were authorized to assist with legal, consultant and search fees; and
- San Diego, Calif., was chosen as the site for the 2009 ASI Convention.
