October 13, 2006
October 13, 2006 - The executive board of the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) will be holding its fall meeting in Denver, Colo., on Oct. 27-28, 2006.
With the approval to implement a Livestock Risk Protection-Lamb (LRP-Lamb) pilot project, David Bossman, a member of the product's development team, will be discussing with the board the next steps in the development process. There is a long list of things that need to be completed before a product is ready for sale, according to Bossman.
The Industry Opportunities Task Force has also invited two insurance agents to discuss additional insurance services with the industry that could be offered by ASI.
Diane Sutton, DVM, coordinator for the National Scrapie Eradication Program, will provide a detailed update on current program statistics as well as a general progress report. She will also lead a discussion on how to move states into compliance with the consistent state status.
The American Lamb Board and the American Sheep and Goat Center will talk about the recent activities of their organizations. Closing out the meeting will be council and committee reports.
