Eller Appointed Deputy Under Secretary

September 29, 2006 - J. Burton Eller, Jr. was appointed Deputy Under Secretary for Marketing and Regulatory Programs (MRP) this week by Deputy Agriculture Secretary Chuck Connor.

Eller will assist Under Secretary Bruce Knight and work with Deputy Under Secretary Chuck Lambert, Ph.D., to oversee the management of the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) MRP mission area and agencies, which include the Agricultural Marketing Service, Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service and Grain Inspection, Packers and Stockyards Administration.

Eller previously served in USDA as director of the office of external affairs for the Farm Service Agency. Prior to that, he was chief executive of the Textile Rental Services Association of America and before that he held positions at the National Cattlemen's Beef Association.
