Lab Suspension

September 15, 2006 - On Sept. 6, 2006, BioGenetics Services, Inc., a U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) approved genotyping laboratory, was suspended from officially testing sheep for the prion protein gene at codons 171, 136 and 154 for the scrapie program by USDA's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS).
Producers may choose to have samples tested at one of the other seven USDA/APHIS-approved genotyping laboratories. A complete list is posted at: www.sheepusa.org.
