September 15, 2006 - On Sept. 8, the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) rejected offers for frozen lamb products due to price considerations. Two vendors submitted offers for this bid, the fifth in a series of invitations.
AMS also announced bids for the next lamb purchase which are due by 1:30 p.m., central time, on Friday, Oct. 6, 2006. This is part of a continuing lamb purchase program requested by the American Sheep Industry Association and approved by Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns in April of this year.
