USDA Designates Disaster Area

September 8, 2006

September 8, 2006 - The U.S. Department of Agriculture designated counties in Alabama, Colorado, Iowa, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Tennessee, Texas, and Washington as primary agricultural disaster areas.

Qualified farmer operators in these areas are eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency and have eight months from the date of declaration to apply for loans to help cover part of their actual losses.

A map indicating the designated counties can be accessed at: https://disasterhelp.gov/portal/jhtml/usda/usdamap.jhtml.
