August 11, 2006 - "I extend my appreciation to the U.S. Senate for confirming the nominations of three very important positions at the U.S. Department of Apiculture (USDA). I congratulate and look forward to welcoming to our leadership team Bruce Knight, as undersecretary for Marketing and Regulatory Program; Nancy Montanez Johner, as undersecretary for Food and Nutrition Consumer Services; and Margo McKay, as assistant secretary for Civil Rights," stated Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns.
In addition to undersecretary for Marketing and Regulator Programs, Knight will serve on the board of directors of the Commodity Credit Corporation. He served as chief of the Natural Resources Conservation Service at USDA since 2002 and as vice president of government relations at the National Corn Growers Association prior to this.
Paul Frischknecht (Utah), president for the American Sheep Industry Association, stated appreciation for Knight as undersecretary noting that lamb and wool research and marketing programs, Wildlife Services and sheep health programs are in his purview.
