July 21, 2006
July 21, 2006 - Producers have been participating in a cost-share ram genotyping program being administered by the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) in conjunction with the U.S. Department of Agriculture's Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS). The cost share provides an opportunity to receive $14-per-ram tested on up to 10 rams.
Only eight weeks remain for producers to participate in this year's ASI/APHIS program. Reimbursement requests must be postmarked no later than Sept. 15, 2006, to be eligible.
Complete details about the ASI/APHIS genotyping program, along with a list of the approved labs, are available on the ASI Web site (
http://www.sheepusa.org) by clicking on the "Ram Genotyping" link.
Opportunities for ram genotype testing are also available through many state/APHIS cooperative programs.
