July 7, 2006
July 7, 2006 - This week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture designated counties
in Alabama and Texas as primary agricultural disaster areas.
designations were announced due to a drought, high temperatures and losses
caused by a freeze.
Qualified farmer operators in these areas are
eligible for low-interest emergency loans from the Farm Service Agency and have
eight months from the date of declaration to apply for loans to help cover part
of their actual losses.
