June 23, 2006 - What price would you pay for a good working dog?
Well, you can expect to dig even deeper after a Victorian bred kelpie fetched nearly US$4,000.
A Tasmanian farmer bought the 20-month-old pup sight unseen and had no qualms at forking out an Australian record amount for the dog.
"The way I look at it there's no limit on the value of a good dog," stated the farmer. "You can send 50 people out to gather a run and they would come back without a sheep. You can send a good dog out and they can do it with ease. And the dog won't answer you back either."
