August 22, 2008 - The American Lamb Board (ALB) has approved funding for four matching grant proposals in the second round of their 2008 Matching Grant program. The programs that have been approved by the board pending the U.S. Department of Agriculture's (USDA) review and approval include Trailing of the Sheep in Ketchum, Idaho, Soldier Hollow Classic in Park City, Utah, Kansas State Fair in Abilene, Kan., and Cleveland Fabulous Food Show in Cleveland, Ohio.
ALB has also approved funding for three Supplier Cooperative Funding Programs for the second funding cycle in fiscal year 2008. The programs that have been approved by the board pending USDA's review and approval include Mountain States Rosen promotion with BJ's Wholesale Club; Catelli Brothers Fall Promotion with Acme Markets; and California Sheep Commission, Superior Farms and Sonoma Direct California Promotion with Whole Foods and Savemart.
The Supplier Cooperative Program is a two-cycle-per-year program. Applications for the next funding cycle will be announced Oct. 1, 2008.
In addition, ALB is offering a new cookbooklet titled, "For the Love of Lamb," which features tips and recipes from American Lambassador Chef Tim Love. Lamb enthusiasts can receive a free copy of the cookbooklet by e-mailing firstname.lastname@example.org
