House Members Support Ag Disaster

May 26, 2006 -- U.S. representatives joined 27 agricultural associations in support of the agricultural disaster package included in the fiscal year 2006 Emergency Supplemental Appropriations bill.

?We hope that the House conferees will accept the inclusion of these provisions designed to provide assistance to crop and livestock producers who suffered losses as a result of the multitude of natural disaster conditions that existed in 2005 and early 2006,? stated the 45 supporting representatives.

Included in the agricultural disaster package is livestock assistance in disaster areas and a 2006 extension of the retained ewe-lamb program, as supported by the American Sheep Industry Association.
