
May 19, 2006 - On Tuesday, the U.S. Department of Agriculture?s Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) purchased 36,000 lbs. of lamb leg roasts at a cost of approximately $97,000. The roasts will be distributed in the federal food and nutrition programs.
This is the first purchase transaction in the $5 million lamb roast purchase program requested by the American Sheep Industry Association and approved by Secretary of Agriculture Mike Johanns on April 14, 2006.
Offers for this buy were accepted from one of the five bidders - Mountain States Rosen LLC, Greeley, Colo.
