
April 7, 2006 -- The Agricultural Marketing Service (AMS) announced the availability of approximately $1 million in competitive grant funds in fiscal year 2006 for projects that promote the domestic consumption of agricultural commodities through direct-to-consumer marketing. Entities eligible to apply include agricultural cooperatives, local governments, nonprofit corporations, public-benefit corporations, economic development corporations, regional farmers-market authorities and Tribal governments.
Examples of direct producer-to-consumer market opportunities that may be funded include projects that address issues related to new farmers markets, roadside stands, community supported agriculture programs and other direct producer-to-consumer marketing channels.
The maximum award per grant is $75,000.
