
March 17, 2006 -- Kurt Zuelke, DVM, Ph.D., has been selected to as director for the National Animal Disease Center (HADC) in Ames, Iowa.
Zuelke currently serves as research leader in the Biotechnology and Germplasm Laboratory in Beltsville, Md., and is involved in developing and implementing research strategies for pioneering the application of serial analysis of gene expression and proteomics to improve the genetic, reproductive and productive efficiency of livestock and poultry.
Currently, he is nearing completion of a one-year special assignment working with the president's science advisor at the Office of Science and Technology Policy and serves as a liaison from the department of agriculture to the National Science and Technology Council.
Zuelke is expected to relocate to Ames to assume his new responsibilities in late June.
