USDA Officials Receive Awards

December 16, 2005 -- Agriculture Secretary Mike Johanns, on Thursday, recognized 15 U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) senior executives who received the 2005 President?s Rank Award for exceptional long-term accomplishments.
"I'm grateful for the contributions of these dedicated men and women and congratulate them on their selection," said Johanns.
Barry Carpenter, Agricultural Marketing Service; William Hudnall, Animal Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS); and Gregory Parham, Office of the Chief Information Officer, received the distinguished executive award. Receiving the distinguished senior professional award was Ronald Fayer, Agricultural Research Service (ARS).
Those USDA employees receiving the meritorious executive award include: James Bradley, ARS; Priscilla Carey, Office of Operations; Joyce Fleischman, Office of Inspector General; Loren Lange, Food Safety Inspection Service; Wilda Martinez, ARS; Cynthia Smith, APHIS; Alejandro Thiermann, APHIS; Clyde Thompson, Civil Rights; and Lawrence Wachs, Office of Budget and Program Analysis. The meritorious senior professional award was presented to Jerry Lee Hatfield, ARS, and Albert Rango, ARS.
Award winners are chosen through a rigorous selection process. They were nominated by Johanns, evaluated by boards of private citizens and approved by the President. The evaluation criteria focus on leadership and results.
