Bill to Extend 2002 Farm Bill

December 2, 2005

December 2, 2005 -- Rep. Collin Peterson (D-Minn.), along with a group of House Agriculture Committee members, introduced a bill to extend the expiration date of the 2002 Farm Bill from 2007 to 2008.

The goal of the extension is to ensure that any changes to U.S. farm policy coincide with World Trade Organization negotiations to cut agricultural subsidies. Those trade talks were suppose to have cleared significant milestones by the end of this year, but are behind schedule.
