ASI Announces Fall Board Meeting
October 7, 2005
October 7, 2005 -- The executive board of the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) will convene in San Angelo, Texas, to conduct business from Sunday, Oct. 16 through Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005.
Agenda items for this meeting include updates on projects in process such as: the American Wool Council program update under the recently approved budget, the Livestock Risk Program for Lamb (LRP-Lamb), sheep identification, the Industry Opportunities Taskforce, mandatory price reporting and a review of the ASI bylaws.
An opportunity for producer leaders from Canada, Mexico and the United States has been arranged to discuss the potential benefits of the three countries working together to accomplish objectives relevant to North America. During the 2005 ASI convention in Reno, Nev., Mexico?s representative recommended this meeting to provide an avenue in which the sheep industry leaders in North America could discuss working jointly on issues affecting all countries.
The group will also have the opportunity to tour some of the industry specific businesses while they are in this sheep-intensive area of West Texas. Texas Sheep and Goat Producers Association will welcome the producer leaders as well as: Bollman Wool Scouring Plant, Producers Livestock Auction, Angelo State University Meat Lab, Texas A&M Agricultural Research and Extension Center and Producers Lamb and Goat (formerly Ranchers Lamb).
Additional information can be obtained by contacting the ASI office.
