New Travel Requirements

August 5, 2005 -- In the future, travelers to and from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Panama, Mexico and Canada will be required to have a passport or other secure, accepted documents to enter or re-enter the United States.
Currently, U.S. citizens need to show only their drivers license to re-enter the country from Mexico and Canada.
The initiative will be implemented in phases:
- Dec. 31, 2005 ? Passport required for all travel (air/sea) to or from the Caribbean, Bermuda, Central and South American.
- Dec. 31, 2006 ? Passport required for all air and sea travel to or from Mexico and Canada.
- Dec. 31, 2007 ? Passport required for all air, sea and land border crossings.
