Budget Top Priority
July 8, 2005
July 8, 2005 -- The executive board of the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI), along with the wool council, will be holding its third-quarter meeting in Denver, Colo., from July 20-23. The top agenda item for this meeting will be the recommendation for approval of the fiscal year 2005-2006 Wool Trust Fund Budget.
Annually, the wool council meets to review the progress of last year?s wool programs and to discuss industry direction for the up-coming fiscal year. Market research and promotion, quality improvement and producer communications are just a few of the areas to be reviewed. Upon executive board?s recommendation of the budget, the board of directors will be asked to cast a mail-in ballot in August for final approval of both the Wool Trust Fund Budget, and the Fund II Budget.
In an effort to assure the longevity of ASI programs and services, the executive board will dedicate a portion of its time discussing industry priorities and developing a strategic plan designed to accomplish these goals.
?Exploring future funding sources is just the first step in working to secure an effective national organization that continues to work for the sheep industry,? stated Paul Frischknecht, ASI president.
