June 24, 2005
June 24, 2005 -- The national sheep flock in Australia is continuing to shrink and now contains more ewes than wethers, according to a new report.
Australian Wool Innovation says sheep numbers in Australia have dropped below 100 million, down from a peak of about 173 million in 1990. The biggest drop has been in wethers, largely used for the live export trade.
