Want to Learn More About Sheep

     June 3, 2005 -- If you are a vocational agriculture instructor, extension agent or 4-H leader and are interested in learning more about sheep and meat goat production, this training might be for you.
     Through a grant obtained from the National Sheep Industry Improvement Center, a Sheep and Meat Goat Training Program will be held in Kirksville, Mo., on December 2-3, 2005, before the Missouri Livestock Symposium. Thirty successful applicants will be awarded scholarships to participate in this training. Applications are due July 1.
     Topics to be addressed in the training include: an overview of the sheep and meat goat industries; breeds and breed variations; feeding; management; breeding; health; forages; selecting, fitting and showing; resources for educators; facilities and handling equipment; and innovative teaching ideas for educators. In addition, program participants will have the opportunity to attend the 2005 Missouri Livestock Symposium.
