May 27, 2005 -- Joseph Jen, Ph.D., tendered his resignation as U.S. Department of Agriculture?s Under Secretary for Research, Education and Economics.
?It is with sincere regret that I have accepted, on behalf of President Bush, the resignation of Dr. Joseph Jen. He has demonstrated tremendous dedication during his tenure with USDA (U.S. Department of Agriculture),? Secretary Johanns said in a statement on Thursday.
?Dr. Jen has been instrumental in the effort to increase recognition of the importance of agricultural science and technology. His hard work and vision have led USDA to many great accomplishments in the areas of research and education,? continued Johanns.
Jen has agreed to remain in his position until a successor is appointed.
