Red Meat Consumption Increased

On a per person basis, U.S. retail weight consumption of red meat and poultry (beef, pork, lamb, veal, chicken and turkey) set a new record in 2004. In 2004, the estimated consumption of red meat and poultry was 221.4 pounds per person, up 2.3 pounds from 2003. Most of the increase was in chicken consumption.
