December 10, 2004 -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Wednesday heard oral arguments in an appeal of a ruling made by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit regarding the constitutionality of the national Beef Checkoff Program.
A decision is expected by the Supreme Court in the spring of 2005.
The American Sheep Industry Association joined more than 100 other organizations of the agriculture community in filing friend-of-the-court briefs supporting the Beef Checkoff Program. The filing was led by the American Farm Bureau Federation.
