Septembet 17, 2004 -- Age Australia reported this week that wool production in Victoria is expected to rise by 4.7 percent in 2004-2005.
Australian Wool Innovation, which is owned by growers, estimates the shorn wool output in Victoria will rise to 214 million lbs. An expected national increase of 4.1 percent will bring Australian production up to more than 1.1 billion lbs. of wool.
Production rises are being attributed to the easing of the drought and the over-all rebuilding of the flock. Since the early 1990?s, the general trend for wool production in Australia has been downward.
