September 10, 2004 -- The American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) will be conducting a Wool Science 101 class on Sept. 24, 2004, in conjunction with the Northern Michigan Lamb and Wool Festival.
The one-day school is designed to give producers and shearers information on wool quality improvement and proper wool handling procedures. Topics to be covered include wool fiber growth and development, wool production, nutritional affects on wool and objective measurement.?
In addition, a portable wool fiber testing machine, an OFDA2000, will be available at the Festival on Sept. 25 and 26 for demonstration and for the testing of wool samples. A nominal fee will be charged for this testing service.
