AWI Testing Wool Contamination Levels

September 10, 2004

September 10, 2004 -- According to the Australian Broadcasting Corp., the Australian Wool Innovation (AWI) has started testing contamination levels in that nation?s wool clip. Over the next year, AWI will test 1 percent of all wool lots sold in Australia to determine how much dark and medullated fiber is entering the system.

This is the first time this sort of information will be collected in Australia. The results of the first test should be available to the industry in a couple months. ?
