August 20, 2004-- The Wool Record Weekly reported that during the Australia-China Free Trade Agreement Conference in Sydney this week, chief executive officer of Australian Wool Innovation Ltd., conveyed the message that the elimination of the tariff-rate quota on all wool imported into China is an essential part of any free-trade agreement between China and Australia.

Australian raw wool and wool tops imported into China currently incur tariffs of 1 percent and 3 percent, respectively.
