July 16, 2004 -- The Executive Board of the American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) held its second quarterly meeting last week in Denver, with the top agenda item being the recommendation for approval of the FY 2004-2005 Wool Trust Fund Budget. The Board unanimously approved the more than $3 million budget as presented with the suggestion that the mail-in ballot be sent to the full Board of Directors in August for approval.
Other executive board actions included:
- a Request of Congress to re-authorize Mandatory Price Reporting for lamb beyond the October 2004 expiration date;
- a recommendation to keep the dues assessment for FY 2005 at the same rate as FY 2004 and recommendation to approve the legislative action budget for next year;
- a motion to support the concept and approach for the ?Vote Yes? Campaign for a successful American Lamb referendum with an industry-wide coalition; and
- a directive that ASI correspond with USDA?s National Agricultural Statistics Service to correct the annual sheep inventory and list numbers for all states.
