Feb. 20, 2004 -- European and U.S. animal health experts recently met at OIE headquarters to set out standards following the ongoing bovine spongiform encephalopathy (BSE) cases.
The discussions were conducted under the auspices of the OIE in order to solve the problems associated with the interpretation and the adherence to the current OIE standards in the Terrestrial Animal Health Code of the OIE on BSE. A process for resolving these issues that significantly affect global trade was also considered during the meeting.
