The U.S. Department of Agriculture is requesting nominations to fill vacancies on the National Agricultural Research, Extension, Education and Economics Advisory Board and its subcommittees. Nomination packages are due by July 29.

The board is composed of 25 members, each representing a specific area of expertise or affiliation required in the Farm Bill. Members serve staggered appointments so that every year at least one-third of the members' term will expire. This year, USDA is seeking nominations for seven vacant categories that will each serve a three-year term.

The vacant member categories of the NAREEE Advisory Board are:
  • Category F. National Food Animal Science Society
  • Category G. National Crop, Soil, Agronomy, Horticulture or Weed Science Society
  • Category L. 1890 Land-Grant Colleges and Universities
  • Category M. 1994 Equity in Education Land-Grant Institutions
  • Category P. American Colleges of Veterinary Medicine
  • Category T. Rural Economic Development
  • Category U. National Consumer Interest Group
The board was established to provide advice and guidance to the Secretary of Agriculture and land-grant colleges and universities on national priorities and policies related to agricultural research, education, extension and economics. The board is also charged with performing an annual review of the relevance of the programs and activities of the Research, Education and Economics mission area and the adequacy of the funding for those programs.
