2016 ASI State Membership Contest Winners
December 22, 2016

The Wyoming Wool Growers Association and the Vermont Sheep and Goat Association have been named this year's winners of the American Sheep Industry Association's state membership contest.

Initially approved in 2004 at the ASI convention, the state membership contest has been offered as an annual incentive to increase membership at the state level. The award is given to the states with the largest percentage increase in members.

Two categories are awarded - states with annual dues of more than $2,000 and states with annual dues of $2,000 or less. The winning states receive a free registration to the ASI convention.

Wyoming recorded a 186-percent membership increase in the states with annual dues of more the $2,000 category. The Vermont association logged a 26-percent increase in membership in lesser-dues category.

Overall, ASI membership as of May 31 was 6,733 members, a 3 percent decrease from the same time in 2015.
