Charleston Trivia and Convention Updates
January 17, 2014

The old city market was first a meat market. Buzzards, "Charleston's Eagle," once trolled the market for meat scraps and kept the place clean. Buzzards were protected by law. Now, the market is known for its sweetgrass baskets. Basketmaking has been a part of the community for more than 300 years.

Weather - The 10-day weather forecast for Charleston shows temperatures in the upper 40's to upper 50's with a small chance for rain. The evenings cool down to the mid to upper 30's.

Tours - To avoid slipping on wet floors in the plants, we have been asked to remind those planning to participate in the various tours to pack a pair of comfortable, flat, closed-toed shoes. Safety is a concern!

Registration - The American Sheep Industry Association (ASI) registration area will be open until late on Tuesday evening. Please stop by to pick up your convention materials upon arrival.

The ASI staff looks forward to seeing everyone next week. Safe Travels.
